Fernando Alonso and his McLaren Mercedes MP4-22 reach top speed at the end of the front straight of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Formula 1 engines of that era red-lined at 19,000 RPM--the cars didn't roar, they screamed. Hearing twenty of them still grouped together on the main straight at the completion of lap one was an unforgettable aural experience.
